Cone Frustum Volume Calculator

Find the volume of a conical frustum from its bottom radius, top radius, and height. Slant height, lateral area, and total surface area are computed too.

Input

Enter the bottom radius R, top radius r, and height h to compute the volume of a cone frustum. Slant height, lateral area, and surface area are shown too.

Result

h = 6r = 2R = 4

Volume

175.929189

Slant height

6.324555

Lateral area

119.215059

Surface area

182.046912

Length units match your input, areas are squared, and volume is cubed.

How it works

  • Volume is computed as V=(pi h/3)(R²+Rr+r²), where R is the bottom radius, r is the top radius, and h is the height.
  • The slant height is l=√((R−r)²+h²), the distance along the slanted side of the frustum.
  • Lateral area is pi(R+r)l, and total surface area adds both circular ends: piR²+pir²+pi(R+r)l.
  • Length units match your input, areas are squared, and volume is cubed. For example, entering cm gives a volume in cm³.
  • Setting the top radius r to 0 reproduces the values of an ordinary cone.
