Constant Velocity Distance Calculator
Find the distance traveled in uniform motion from speed and time using d = v × t, with unit conversion for m/s, km/h, and seconds, minutes, hours.
Input
Enter speed and time to calculate the distance traveled in uniform motion using d = v × t.
Speed unit
m/s
Time unit
seconds
Distance d = speed v × time t. Speed is converted to m/s and time to seconds for the calculation.
Result
Distance traveled
Distance d
50m
In kilometers
0.05 km
In centimeters
5,000 cm
Speed conversion
10 m/s = 36 km/h
d = v × t = 10 m/s × 5 s = 50 m
How it works
- The distance d is the product of speed v and time t, given by d = v × t. This is the most basic relation for uniform motion at constant speed.
- The speed is converted to m/s and the time to seconds before the distance is found in meters, then also shown in kilometers and centimeters.
- Speed can be entered in m/s or km/h, and time in seconds, minutes, or hours. Divide km/h by 3.6 to convert it to m/s.
- This formula does not apply when acceleration is present. For changing speed, use the average speed or the equations of uniformly accelerated motion.
