How it works

  • Dividend yield (%) = annual dividend per share ÷ share price × 100. A higher yield means more dividend income relative to the amount you invest.
  • Total annual dividend = annual dividend per share × number of shares; amount invested = share price × number of shares.
  • This yield is annualized over a one-year period. If dividends are paid in installments (e.g. interim and year-end, or quarterly), add them up into a full-year amount before entering.
  • You can enter either the company's forecast annual dividend per share or the actual trailing annual dividend; the meaning of the resulting yield changes accordingly.
  • This tool uses the gross (pre-tax) dividend. Actual take-home dividends are reduced by withholding tax, which varies by country and account type. Use a dedicated tool for after-tax figures.
  • Share prices and dividends change daily, and cuts or hikes move the yield. Figures are estimates as of the time of input and do not guarantee future yield or investment results.
