How it works
- Net benefit = points earned + return-gift value − 2,000 yen out-of-pocket. It assumes you donate within your deduction limit, so the out-of-pocket cost is a flat 2,000 yen.
- Points earned = donation × point reward rate (rounded down). Enter the total multiplier you actually receive from Rakuten SPU, campaigns, and shop round-up.
- Return-gift value = donation × return-gift rate. Japan's rules cap return gifts at about 30% of the donation, so the default is 30%. Set it to 0% if you do not want to count the gift's value.
- "Benefit from points only" excludes the return gift: points earned − 2,000 yen. A low reward rate can make this negative (a net cost).
- Donating above your deduction limit makes the excess fully out-of-pocket. Check your limit with a dedicated furusato tax limit calculator.
- Figures are estimates only. Actual points depend on award caps, conditions, and limited-time points, and your deduction depends on income, family situation, and other deductions. Confirm current terms on Rakuten and each municipality's portal.
