How it works
- Choose a Gregorian (Western) date and the tool shows the matching Iranian (Persian / Solar Hijri) calendar date.
- The Iranian calendar is a solar calendar whose new year, Nowruz, is aligned with the spring equinox, so the Persian new year (1 Farvardin) falls around March 20 on the Gregorian calendar.
- The months run Farvardin, Ordibehesht, Khordad and so on: the first six months have 31 days each, the next five have 30 days each, and the final month, Esfand, normally has 29 days (30 in a leap year).
- Leap years are detected and shown. In a leap year Esfand has 30 days and the year is 366 days long.
- Conversion is computed through the Julian Day Number (JDN), so month shifts and leap-year boundaries are handled precisely.
- The difference between the Gregorian year and the current Iranian year is roughly 621 to 622 years (for example, 2026 CE is around 1404 to 1405 in the Iranian calendar).
