How it works

  • Enter a Hijri year (Islamic calendar year) to list the Gregorian date for the 1st of each of its 12 months.
  • The start of Ramadan, the 9th month, is highlighted in large type at the top so you can read the beginning of the fasting month in the Gregorian calendar at a glance.
  • For each month the table shows the Gregorian date along with the weekday and the number of days (29 or 30), and it indicates whether the whole year is a 354-day common year or a 355-day leap year.
  • Calculations use the arithmetic (tabular) method, which places 11 leap years in a 30-year cycle, so results may differ by 1-2 days from the official calendar based on actual sighting of the new moon.
  • Month names are given in the common romanized transliteration, such as Muharram, Safar, and Ramadan.
