How it works

  • Hit-by-pitch rate (HBP/9) shows how many batters a pitcher would hit if they pitched a full nine innings. A lower value means a smaller share of hit batters and steadier control.
  • The formula is: HBP/9 = hit by pitch x 9 / innings pitched. For example, 5 hit batters over 100 innings gives 5 x 9 / 100 = 0.45.
  • Enter innings pitched as a decimal. Treating one out (1/3 inning) as about 0.33 and 2/3 inning as about 0.67 keeps the result close to official stat lines.
  • The rate is shown to two decimal places. Enter a season or multi-game total to review the average hit-by-pitch trend over that span.
  • Along with the rate, the result lists the hit batters and innings pitched you entered, so you can check the numbers behind it at a glance.
  • You can share the result straight to X, handy for talking pitching stats with teammates or fellow fans.
