How it works

Using approximate survival rates from national life tables, this tool estimates how many more times you'll meet by considering the probability that you and your parent are both still alive.
The expected value (about N more times) is the sum, over each future meeting, of the probability that you are both alive at that moment. It reflects the small year-by-year mortality risk rather than assuming a sudden cutoff.
The chance of meeting at least N more times is the probability that you are both alive in the year that opportunity arrives. In most cases the limiting factor is your parent's lifespan, not yours.
The difference in life expectancy between sexes (women tend to live longer) is taken into account. Enter ages as completed years.
Life-expectancy figures are estimates and vary by country. This is a rough estimate based on statistical averages and does not account for individual health, medical history, or other factors. Rather than fixating on the numbers, use it as a reason to rethink how often you visit.
