arcsin and arccos are defined only when x is between −1 and 1. Values shown are principal values.
How it works
- arcsin and arccos are defined only when the input x is between minus one and one. Outside that range no angle exists.
- arctan is defined for every real number and returns an angle greater than minus ninety degrees and less than ninety degrees.
- Principal values are used: arcsin from minus ninety to ninety degrees, arccos from zero to one hundred eighty degrees, and arctan from minus ninety to ninety degrees.
- Degrees and radians are converted using the relation that one hundred eighty degrees equals pi radians.
