Ohms Law Resistance Calculator (R = V / I)
Find resistance from voltage and current using Ohms law R = V / I. It also computes power and conductance, with a simple circuit diagram.
Input
Enter the voltage and current to compute resistance with Ohms law R = V / I.
V
Voltage across the circuit in volts
A
Current flowing through the circuit in amperes
Result
Resistance R
24Ω
About 0.024 kΩ
Power P = V times I
6 W
Power
6,000 mW
Conductance G
0.041667 S
Resistance R = V / I and power P = V times I. The resistance is undefined when the current I is 0.
How it works
- Resistance is found with R = V / I, where V is voltage in volts, I is current in amperes, and R is resistance in ohms.
- Power is computed as P = V times I, measured in watts.
- When the current is 0 the resistance is undefined, so enter a current greater than 0.
- Conductance is the reciprocal of resistance, G = I / V, measured in siemens.
- With accurate voltage and current values you can estimate the resistance of a DC circuit directly.
