How it works
- Social insurance = health insurance + employee pension + employment insurance (employee share). Enter your total gross annual income, including bonuses and allowances.
- The employee-share rates used are roughly 5% for health insurance (half of the 10% total), about 9.15% for employee pension (half of the 18.3% total), and about 0.6% for employment insurance (worker share for general businesses).
- Ages 40 to 64 are second-category long-term care insurance subscribers, so a long-term care premium (about 0.8% employee share) is added to health insurance. Choose "Age 40-64" to include this.
- Actual premiums are calculated from standard monthly remuneration grades and caps, and rates vary by health insurance society, prefecture, and year. This tool applies flat rates to your annual income as an estimate.
- All figures are rough estimates only. Confirm exact premiums with your payslip, employer, health insurance society, or pension office.
