How it works

  • Pick a year to see Taiwan's (Republic of China) main public holidays for that year, with each holiday's name, traditional-Chinese local name, approximate date and calendar type.
  • New Year's Day (Jan 1), Peace Memorial Day (Feb 28), Children's Day (Apr 4), Labour Day (May 1) and National Day / Double Tenth (Oct 10) are fixed solar-calendar holidays.
  • Spring Festival (Lunar New Year), Tomb-Sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival follow the lunar (agricultural) calendar, so their solar-calendar dates shift each year; treat the dates shown as rough timing.
  • When a holiday falls on a weekend Taiwan may grant a make-up day off, and weekdays between holidays are sometimes adjusted to create long weekends, so the actual schedule changes year to year.
  • The number of days off and the exact arrangement of holidays are announced each year by the Taiwanese authorities. Always check the latest official information when planning travel or business.
