Torus (Donut) Volume Calculator
Enter the center radius R and tube radius r to compute a torus (donut) volume with V = 2 pi squared R r squared, plus surface area, outer diameter, and inner diameter.
Input
Enter the center radius R (from the center axis to the center of the tube) and the tube radius r to calculate the volume of a torus (donut shape).
Result
Volume
394.784176
Surface area
394.784176
Outer diameter
14
Inner diameter
6
Lengths use the same unit as the inputs, area uses that unit squared, and volume uses that unit cubed.
How it works
- The volume is V = 2 pi squared R r squared, where R is the distance from the center axis to the center of the tube and r is the radius of the tube.
- The surface area is S = 4 pi squared R r.
- The outer diameter equals 2(R + r) and the inner diameter equals 2(R - r). The center radius R must be at least the tube radius r so the inner diameter is not negative.
- Lengths use the same unit as the inputs, while area uses that unit squared and volume uses that unit cubed.
