Trigonometric Functions Calculator (Radians)
Compute sin, cos, tan, csc, sec and cot from an angle in radians, with a degree conversion and a unit circle diagram.
Input
Enter an angle theta in radians to compute sin, cos, tan, csc, sec, cot and the degree value.
Example: pi over 6 is about 0.5235987756, pi over 4 is about 0.7853981634
Result
sin theta
0.5
cos theta
0.8660254
tan theta
0.57735027
csc theta
2
sec theta
1.15470054
cot theta
1.73205081
In degrees

Unit circle point (cos theta, sin theta)
(0.8660254, 0.5)
csc, sec, cot and tan are undefined at angles where the denominator becomes zero.
How it works
- The angle theta is entered in radians. For example pi over 6 is about 0.5235987756, pi over 4 is about 0.7853981634, pi over 3 is about 1.0471975512 and pi over 2 is about 1.5707963268.
- sin theta and cos theta match the y and x coordinates of the point on the unit circle. tan theta equals sin theta divided by cos theta.
- csc theta, sec theta and cot theta are the reciprocals of sin theta, cos theta and tan theta. They are undefined where the denominator becomes zero.
- tan theta and sec theta are undefined where cos theta is zero, at odd multiples of pi over 2. csc theta and cot theta are undefined where sin theta is zero, at integer multiples of pi.
- The degree value is found from theta multiplied by 180 divided by pi.
