This tool finds the volume of a wedge whose base is a rectangle (long side a, short side b) with a top ridge of length c running parallel to side a.
The volume formula is V equals (b h divided by 6) times (2a plus c), where b is the short base side, h is the height, a is the long base side, and c is the top ridge length.
When c equals a the shape becomes a triangular prism (half of a rectangular box); when c equals 0 it becomes a rectangular pyramid.
Lengths share the unit you enter, and the volume uses the cube of that unit. For example, entering lengths in cm gives the volume in cubic cm.
Enter each dimension as a positive value. Only the ridge c is allowed to be 0 or greater.
