How it works
- With a percent off (%), the discounted price is 'list price × (1 − rate ÷ 100)'; with an amount off, it is 'list price − amount'. If the result goes below zero, it is treated as 0.
- A stacked discount applies a further rate to the already-discounted price (for example, another 10% off at the register on a price already 30% off). It is ignored when left at 0.
- Choosing 'Pre-tax' applies the discount to the base price, then adds the sales tax rate to get the amount you pay (tax included). Choosing 'Tax-included' discounts the entered list price as-is.
- The reward points rate is converted into an effective discount on the amount paid, shown as 'effective payment = amount paid − points back'.
- When reward points are entered, 'Discount' and 'Effective discount' are shown on an effective basis that includes the points (the gap between the list price and the effective payment). The effective discount rate is 'discount ÷ list price × 100'.
- * Displayed amounts are rounded estimates. Actual payments and rewards may differ due to each store's rounding, the terms for earning and using points, and excluded items.
