Answer "yes" or "no" to every item to see your total score and result band.
How it works
- Answer 11 "yes/no" questions about your recent drinking, and the score assigned to each answer is totaled. Based on the total, you are placed in one of three bands: "low-risk drinking" (under 2 pts), "problem drinking" (2 to under 5 pts), or "severe problem drinking" (5 pts or more).
- The questions are reworded in our own words, informed by the spirit of a women's alcohol screening test (the women's version of KAST) without reproducing the original text. They cover aspects such as drinking frequency, control over how much you drink, regret, secret drinking, concern from others, and memory blackouts.
- Answers reflecting a tendency to limit drinking, such as "I keep alcohol-free days," count as protective factors and subtract from your total (the total cannot go below 0 pts).
- Compared with men, women have less body water, so the same amount of alcohol tends to raise blood alcohol concentration more. As a result, even smaller amounts of drinking can have a greater effect on the body, and the scoring thresholds here are set with women in mind.
- The result is only a self-check guide. Even with a low score, if you feel anxious about your drinking, or if your score is high, don't carry it alone; please consult a healthcare provider, a mental health and welfare center, or a specialist support service.
- This tool is a simplified self-check, not a diagnosis or medical treatment for alcohol dependence. Always consult a qualified medical institution regarding diagnosis or treatment.
