Badminton Calorie Calculator

Quickly estimate the calories you burn playing badminton from your weight, play time, and intensity (recreational/competitive). Also shows rice-bowl and body-fat equivalents.

Input

Estimate the calories you burn playing badminton from your body weight, play time, and intensity (recreational or competitive). MET values are representative averages, so treat the result as a guide.

How it works

  • The formula is: calories (kcal) = METs × body weight (kg) × time (hours) × 1.05. Play time entered in minutes is converted to hours for the calculation.
  • Intensity MET values use 5.5 METs for recreational (casual) play and 7.0 METs for competitive (matches or intense rallies) play. These are approximate values based on representative figures from the Compendium of Physical Activities (METs table).
  • For reference, equivalents assume about 234 kcal per bowl of rice and about 7.2 kcal per gram of body fat. These are general guides and vary with the actual food and body composition.
  • Calories burned vary greatly with age, sex, muscle mass, play intensity, and basal metabolism. The values shown are guides that include individual differences, not strict medical or nutritional figures.
  • Even within badminton, intense play with continuous rallies and relaxed play with frequent rest burn different amounts. Choosing the option closest to your actual intensity improves accuracy.
  • Use this as a reference for diet and health management. If your goal is weight loss, adjust within a reasonable range by balancing both calories burned and calories consumed through food.
