How it works

  • The weight formula is "weight (kg) = BMI × height (m) squared." Height is fixed, and the weight for each BMI value is calculated in reverse.
  • Ideal weight is based on BMI 22 (the value considered least prone to illness), beauty weight on BMI 20, and model weight on BMI 18. These are nominal labels, and the healthy weight range varies by individual.
  • The weight categories follow standard classification (under 18.5 = underweight, 18.5 to under 25 = normal weight, 25 to under 30 = obese class 1, 30 to under 35 = obese class 2, 35 to under 40 = obese class 3, 40 and above = obese class 4).
  • BMI is a simple index derived only from height and weight; it does not reflect muscle mass, bone structure, body-fat percentage, or age. People with the same BMI can be in different states of health depending on body composition.
  • BMI-based assessment may not apply directly to growing children, pregnant women, or athletes and others with high muscle mass.
  • This tool is a general estimate based on a standard formula and is not a diagnosis or medical advice. Always consult a doctor for health-related decisions.
