Farm Work Calorie Calculator

Estimate the calories burned during farm work just by choosing your weight, work time, and task intensity. Pick METs for animal care, general farming, or heavy work like harvesting, and see conversions into bowls of rice and body fat.

Input

Estimate the calories burned during farm work from your weight, work time, and task intensity. METs are representative values per task type, so treat the result as a reference.

How it works

  • Calories burned are calculated as METs x body weight (kg) x work time (hours) x 1.05. For example, a 60 kg person doing general farm work (4.5 METs) for one hour burns about 4.5 x 60 x 1 x 1.05 = 284 kcal.
  • METs (metabolic equivalents) express activity intensity relative to rest (1). This tool uses 4.0 for animal care and feeding, 4.5 for general farm work such as tilling and planting, and 8.0 for heavy work such as hauling hay and harvesting.
  • The MET values are reference figures based on representative values from the Compendium of Physical Activities. Even the same farm work can vary in actual intensity depending on the task, tools, and terrain.
  • Results also show estimates converted using about 234 kcal per bowl of rice and about 7.2 kcal per gram of body fat. These conversion values are general references and vary by food and individual.
  • The displayed calories burned vary widely with age, sex, body type, work efficiency, and temperature, so they are only a guide. Use them as a rough reference for health management and exercise planning.
  • Entering the actual working time excluding breaks gives a more realistic estimate. For long sessions, take regular breaks and stay hydrated.
