Golf Calorie Calculator

Estimate the calories burned in one round of golf from your weight, play time, and how you get around (cart, walking and carrying, or general play). Also shows the equivalent in bowls of rice and body fat.

Input

Estimate the calories burned during a round of golf from your body weight, play time, and how you get around (intensity). MET values are typical references, so treat the result as a guide.

How it works

  • Calories burned (kcal) are calculated as "METs x body weight (kg) x exercise time (hours) x 1.05". Play time is entered in minutes and converted to hours internally.
  • METs measure exercise intensity relative to rest (1 MET). This tool uses about 3.5 METs for riding a cart, about 4.3 METs for walking and carrying your clubs, and about 4.8 METs for golf in general.
  • The MET values are estimates based on representative figures from Japan's National Institute of Health and Nutrition "Compendium of Physical Activities (revised)." Actual intensity varies with course elevation, walking distance, and pace of play.
  • The result also shows reference conversions using "1 bowl of rice = about 234 kcal" and "1 g of body fat = about 7.2 kcal." These conversions are rough guides only.
  • Calories burned vary by age, sex, body composition, temperature, and playing style, and are not medically or nutritionally precise values. Use them as a reference for diet and health management.
  • An 18-hole round usually takes about 4 to 5 hours (roughly 240 to 300 minutes), but adjust the play time for half rounds or practice rounds when calculating.
