Horseback Riding Calorie Calculator
Estimate the calories burned horseback riding just by entering your weight, time in the saddle, and gait (walk, trot, or gallop). Uses a METs-based formula and also shows equivalents in bowls of rice and body fat.
Input
Estimate the calories burned horseback riding from your body weight, time in the saddle, and gait (intensity). METs are representative averages, so treat the result as a guideline.
Result
Estimated calories burned (Trot)
183kcal
About 0.8 bowls of rice / about 25 g of body fat
Applied METs
5.8 METs
Duration
30 min
Body weight
60.0 kg
How it works
- Calories are calculated with the formula 'METs x body weight (kg) x duration (hours) x 1.05'. Enter the duration in minutes; it is converted to hours internally.
- The METs for each gait are walk 3.8, trot 5.8, and gallop 7.3. These are representative values based on compendium of physical activity METs tables.
- The result also shows reference equivalents using about 234 kcal per bowl of rice and about 7.2 kcal per gram of body fat.
- Even for the same gait, the actual intensity varies with balance, posture, and the rider's skill level.
- METs are only representative values; calorie expenditure varies by age, build, and basal metabolism. Use the displayed figures as a guideline.
- For strict calorie management or decisions affecting your health or weight, consult a professional or a medical institution.
