How it works
- Calories burned (kcal) are calculated with the common simplified formula "METs × body weight (kg) × duration (hours) × 1.05". Because the resting metabolic component is not subtracted, the value is slightly higher than the net calories burned by the exercise itself.
- METs is an index expressing how many times more energy an activity uses compared to resting. This tool calculates general/recreational play as 8.3 METs and competitive/match play as 10.0 METs.
- The METs values are estimates based on representative figures from the National Institute of Health and Nutrition's Compendium of Physical Activities (revised edition). Actual values vary by position, activity level, distance covered, and more.
- For reference, the calories burned are also shown converted into bowls of rice (about 234 kcal each) and body fat (about 7.2 kcal/g). These are rough estimates only.
- For the same time and intensity, a heavier body weight burns more calories. Energy expenditure also varies between individuals depending on physique, fitness, and that day's condition.
- The displayed figures are intended as a guide for fitness and activity levels, and do not constitute medical or nutritional diagnosis or advice.
