Skiing Calorie Calculator
Estimate the calories you burn skiing in seconds. Just enter your weight, time on the slopes, and skiing intensity, with handy rice-bowl and body-fat equivalents.
Input
Calculated with the simple formula: calories = METs × weight (kg) × time (hours) × 1.05. METs values are estimates and vary by individual.

How it works
- Calories burned (kcal) are estimated with the simple formula "METs × weight (kg) × time (hours) × 1.05". This is a rough total that includes resting metabolism.
- METs express exercise intensity as a multiple of your resting metabolic rate. This tool offers representative values of 5.3 for downhill (moderate), 7.0 for general skiing, and 9.0 for cross-country, calculating from the intensity you choose.
- The METs values are estimates based on references such as the National Institute of Health and Nutrition's revised compendium of physical activities; actual burn varies with technique, slope steepness, and breaks taken.
- For reference, results also show the number of rice bowls (about 234 kcal each) and an estimated body-fat amount converted at 1 g ≈ 7.2 kcal.
- Calories burned are strongly affected by individual factors like age, sex, body composition, fitness level, and temperature. Treat the figures as rough estimates only.
- Exclude lift-line waits and rest breaks from the duration; entering only your actual time spent skiing gives a more realistic result.
