How it works
- Total sugar is calculated as volume (ml) x sugar per 100 ml (g) / 100. If the nutrition label lists grams per 100 ml or a percentage concentration, you can enter that value directly.
- The sugar-cube conversion is total sugar (g) / 4. A typical sugar cube is about 3-4 g; this tool uses 4 g per cube as a guide.
- Calories from sugar are calculated as total sugar (g) x 4 kcal. This is an estimate using the common factor of about 4 kcal per gram of sugar.
- The presets for common drinks (cola, soda, energy drinks, sports drinks, juice, and so on) are guideline figures based on typical values seen on the nutrition labels of commercial beverages. Actual products vary by manufacturer and item, so check the package for exact values.
- Here, 'sugar' refers roughly to carbohydrates minus dietary fiber, including table sugar, fructose, and similar. Some products list this as 'carbohydrates', which may differ slightly from this value.
- Results are estimates based on your input and are not a diagnosis or medical advice. For decisions about sugar or calorie intake, consult a doctor, registered dietitian, or other professional.
