The rounding adjustment (-$100.00) is added to the person paying the most, Member 1, so the parts add up to the exact total.

How it works

  • Each member's amount is calculated as total amount x that member's share / sum of all shares. Shares are treated as ratios, so 2 and 1 means a 2-to-1 split.
  • Use the Add button to include any number of members. Setting ratios such as 2 for the boss, 1.5 for a senior, and 1 for a junior gives a weighted split based on seniority.
  • Choose a rounding unit of 1, 10, 100, or 1000, and a method of round up, round to nearest, or round down. Rounding to units like 100 (no change needed) makes collecting money easier.
  • Any rounding gap between the parts and the total (the rounding adjustment) is added to the person paying the most, so everyone's amounts add up exactly to the total you entered.
  • The results table lists each member's share, percent of the whole, and amount, and the amount for the person paying the most is shown large as the headline figure.
  • Note: amounts are estimates rounded to the unit you set. When collecting money, adjust as the organizer sees fit based on the people and situation.
