Tennis Calorie Calculator
Estimate the calories you burn playing tennis by entering your weight, play time, and intensity (doubles, singles, and more). Uses a simple METs-based formula and shows handy conversions to bowls of rice and body fat.
Input
Estimate the calories you burn playing tennis from your body weight, play time, and intensity (doubles, singles, and more). METs are representative values, so treat the results as a guide.
Result
Estimated calories burned (General (match play))
460kcal
About 2.0 bowls of rice / about 64 g of body fat
METs used

How it works
- Calories burned are calculated with the common simplified formula "METs x weight (kg) x time (hours) x 1.05". The play time you enter (in minutes) is converted to hours and used to produce a rough estimate that includes resting metabolism.
- METs (metabolic equivalents) express exercise intensity relative to rest, where rest equals 1. Because the effort of tennis varies with play style, you can choose from doubles 6.0, general/match play 7.3, or singles 8.0.
- Each METs value is a representative figure based on references such as the National Institutes of Biomedical Innovation, Health and Nutrition's METs table for physical activity (revised edition). Actual calories burned vary with body type, intensity of play, rally length, temperature, and more.
- As a reference, the result also shows the equivalent in "bowls of rice" and "grams of body fat", assuming about 234 kcal per bowl of rice and about 7.2 kcal per gram of body fat. These conversions are approximate.
- Playing tennis does not directly reduce your body fat by the same amount shown. Real weight loss depends on the overall balance of total calories consumed and burned, including diet.
- The figures shown are reference values for health management. If you have any health concerns or a medical condition, or plan to significantly increase your activity, please consult a doctor or specialist.
